Greta Goat loved choosing every game and telling everyone exactly how to play. Each sunny day in the farmyard, Greta bounced onto the green grass by the big red barn. She stamped her hoof and lifted her chin. 'We will play Dragon Tag-no hiding, only running!' she called out, her voice strong and bright. Lina Lamb, Mateo Pig, and tiny Ben Bunny gathered around. They remembered Greta had the best ideas for games, so they nodded and got ready to play. At first, it was fun racing and tagging. Greta zipped around, horns shining in the sun. She puffed and laughed, always the first dragon, always making up new rules. 'No touching the fence!' she'd say. Or, 'Only I can tag with my tail!' But day after day, it was always Greta's game, always Greta's rules. When Lina said, 'Maybe we can hide this time?' Greta shook her head. 'No, hiding is boring! We just run!' When Mateo asked, 'Can we have teams?' Greta frowned. 'Dragons don't need teams. I know the best way!' Ben shuffled his feet. 'Can I be the dragon?' But Greta only giggled. 'Maybe next time, Ben!' Soon, Greta noticed fewer hooves and paws in the circle by the barn. The grass felt too quiet. She shouted louder. 'Come play Dragon Tag! Winner gets a shiny rock!' Only a magpie came for the rock. Greta sat alone and kicked a pebble. Her chest ached with a funny, twisty feeling. The games didn't feel fun anymore without her friends' happy voices. One afternoon, when the sun was low and the breeze tickled her ears, Greta heard giggles near the apple tree. She trotted over and stopped shyly. There was Lina and Mateo, crouched together, drawing something in the dusty earth with a stick. Little Ben clapped his paws nearby. Greta watched as Lina drew big circles and Mateo made zigzag lines. They placed stones and colored leaves along the path, making a board with shapes and spaces. Ben squeaked, 'I drew a smiling sun!' Greta waited. She wanted to call out a rule. But her chest still felt twisty, so instead she asked, 'Can I play too?' This time Greta's voice was small. Lina looked up with a wide sheepy grin. 'Sure, Greta! We made a Hop-and-Hide game. Every friend gets a turn. First, you hop onto a spot. Then you pick a card. It might say 'hide,' or 'draw a silly goat,' or 'tell a joke!'' Mateo giggled and added, 'And every time someone laughs, you get a giggle point. Want to try?' Greta nodded and hopped to a big circle. Ben handed her a card. Greta read, 'Draw a goat with five hats!' The friends watched as Greta used her hoof to draw. They cheered and giggled at her wobbly, hat-stacked goat. Minutes spun by. Sometimes Greta suggested a fun twist, but she listened when Lina had an idea or Mateo did a silly dance. Everyone took turns leading or deciding how to play. Greta couldn't remember when laughter had sounded so loud and bright-and her chest felt floaty instead of tight. As the sun dipped behind the barn, Greta looked at her friends-messy, happy, full of new ideas. She smiled and asked, 'What do you want to play tomorrow?' Mateo wriggled his nose. 'Maybe Dragon Tag, but with hiding AND teams!' Everyone shouted, 'Yes!' Greta grinned. The playground felt full and warm-just right for games with friends, and every voice counted.
