Bella Bunny tucked her paws under her chin. Sunbeams danced across the playground. The cool air smelled like crispy leaves and pencils. Kids laughed, skipping past the big oak tree. But Bella, gentle and shy, watched from a soft patch of grass. Today the school would announce the fall talent show. Bella wanted so much to join-but her voice felt as tiny as a whisper. The Announcement 'Come tell a joke! Show your dances! Or sing!' called Mrs. Duck from the gym steps. Paper stars and streamers sparkled behind her. Sammy Squirrel, the class helper, raced by with a stack of sign-up sheets. His shoes made little skritch sounds on the wood floor. Bella hid behind her long ears when he came closer. 'Are you joining the show?' Sammy asked, tail twitching. Bella shook her head a little. 'I want to. My voice just... disappears.' Sammy grinned. 'Want to try together? You don't have to be loud. I can help!' 'Okay,' Bella said softly. Her tummy buzzed like a hummingbird. But Sammy's eyes looked kind, so she nodded. Practice in the Playground After lunch, the playground felt safe. Bella sat on the bench while Sammy bounced beside her. 'Try humming like you do when you read,' Sammy said. Bella closed her eyes and hummed a quiet tune. The cool breeze brushed her fur. Sammy grinned and listened. 'Now, breathe really slow like you're blowing out dandelions.' Bella took a deep breath in, then out. Her shoulders relaxed. 'What about your poems?' Sammy asked. 'You write the prettiest little poems.' Bella blushed. 'They sound so small. Will anyone hear them?' 'Let's find out!' said Sammy. He cupped his paw around his ear and leaned in. Bella giggled. Her poem fluttered out, soft as a feather: 'Maples sigh with golden crowns, Leaves drift gently, swirling down, Quiet songs a bunny sings- Hiding hope in folded wings.' Sammy blinked, smiling wide. 'I heard every word. When you're quiet, everyone listens harder.' Bella's heart felt floaty. Maybe her gentle sounds could be special after all. A Quiet Song on Stage The gym buzzed on the day of the talent show. Strings of lights twinkled. The stage looked big and bright. Bella's paws tingled as she waited in the wings, Sammy giving her a brave thumbs up. When Mrs. Duck called her name, Bella took one tiny step, then another. The floor felt cool under her feet. The crowd waved and rustled. Bella closed her eyes, remembering the playground. She took a slow, dandelion breath. Then, with a voice soft as morning dew, she whispered her poem into the still air. The room grew quiet. Really quiet. Bella peeked. All the kids leaned in. Teachers paused. Even Sammy crept closer, eyes shining. Her words floated across the stage: 'Maples sigh with golden crowns, Leaves drift gently, swirling down...' Every ear was listening. Her quiet song felt huge and bright. Bella ended with a shy smile. For a moment, the world stayed still. Then the whole gym erupted in applause. Cheers bubbled out like music. Bella's cheeks felt warm and proud. Sammy clapped the loudest of all. A New Kind of Brave After the show, friends gathered around Bella, chattering about her gentle poem. Sammy squeezed her paw. 'You did it! Your quiet is magic,' he said. Bella grinned, her shyness melting into sunlight. She knew now-quiet courage could shine, and soft songs could fill a room. She was ready to try new things, one gentle note at a time.
